Hapag-Lloyd makes MCI order

The reefers are being produced in China and Chile

Hapag-Lloyd has purchased 3,700 Maersk Container Industry (MCI) Star Cool Integrated reefers, of which just under a third are fitted with more environmentally friendly systems. Santos Brasil is to invest BRL37m (US$11m) in expanding and modernising Vila do Conde Container Terminal over the next two years as part of an early 15 year extension to the terminal’s lease. Maritime Transport adds Sany machine to Manchester depot

Multi-modal logistics company Maritime Transport has added a Sany empty container handler to its Manchester operations, bringing its fleet number to three. Container volumes at Santos Brasil’s flagship Tecon Santos terminal fell by 18.8% year-on-year in the third quarter following the termination of its key Asia service. The facility handled 204,699 containers during the quarter due to the loss of the navigation service ESA’s contract. Georgia’s APM Terminals (APMT) Poti has added two new tug boats which the operator believes will boost the facility’s offering. Hapag-Lloyd’s container volumes shot up by 24.4% to 7m teu in the first nine months of 2017, while the German carrier also posted strong quarterly financial results.
