Dubai-based port operator DP World has reported a 5.3% year-on-year drop in its United Arab Emirates (UAE) gross container throughput last year.
Volumes at the company’s terminals in the UAE fell from 15.6m teu in 2015 to 14.8m teu last year amid challenging market conditions at its flagship Jebel Ali Port.
The operator’s consolidated volumes, which are handled in terminals where DP World has control, reported a negligible 0.4% growth to 29m teu in 2016.
