Fiji Ports Terminal Limited has ordered three reachstackers and one empty container handler from Kalmar.
This order was booked in Cargotec’s 2017 third quarter order intake with delivery scheduled for fourth quarter 2017.
Fiji Ports Terminal Limited manages and operates two international ports in Fiji: its largest facility, the Port of Suva, and the Port of Lautoka on Fiji’s largest island of Viti Levu.
Terminal tractors from the manufacturer are already servicing Fiji’s largest container port, Port of Suva, which handles container and general cargo, and has over 6,000 sq m of storage area.
Hasthika Dela, CEO at Fiji Ports Terminal Limited, said: “This new machinery will increase safety and productivity, while improving operational efficiency at Fiji’s largest port.
“The option to fit all machines with SmartFleet to monitor fuel consumption and less environmental impact was one of the attractions of buying Kalmar in an effort to initiate the Green Port programme, and to meet organisation’s Environmental Management obligations.”
According to a statement from the Finnish company, the DRF400-450 model is “tailor made for industrial handling with the freedom allowed by the lifting equipment and boom, making it easier for the driver to improve the work efficiency of the unit.”
Cummins engines will power all machines and they will also feature the Kalmar SmartFleet system which aims to enable performance-boosting remote monitoring and reporting.
