CSX Intermodal Terminals (CSXIT) has made a further order of Konecranes equipment which will take its total number of Konecranes machines to 27 by December 2017.
CSXIT, a subsidiary of CSX Corporation, has been working with Konecranes since 2012 and made the most recent order in spring 2017.
Since August eight pieces of Konecranes equipment arrived, with a further three due for delivery in December.
A spokesperson from CSXIT said: “We are proud to offer our customers a cleaner, quicker transportation solution across a vast rail network that spans 23 states and over 34 inland intermodal terminals.
“Succeeding at this scale requires machinery that is exceptional in every way: safe, eco-efficient, reliable and powerful.”
The first delivery consisted of two SMV 52 GC3S sideloaders, five SMV 4535 TC5 reach stackers, and one SMV 4543 TCX5 reach stacker.
The sideloaders come with folding leg attachments for handling containers from an extended 12 m position, a special modification requested by CSXIT to meet the requirements of the US rail market.
The SMV 4543 TCX5 can lift up to 45 tonnes, five containers high on the first row, and up to 25 tonnes, 3 rows deep.
The machine’s front support jacks can be engaged for further stability and mean the lift capacity on the third row can increase to 30 tonnes.
