An Ecuadorian DP World facility has chosen to implement Navis’ N4 terminal operating system (TOS) in anticipation of its targeted go-live in 2019.
DP World won a 50-year concession for the greenfield, multi-purpose Posorja facility from the Ecuadorian government in 2016, and will implement Navis’ PrimeRoute, Expert Decking and AutoStow modules alongside N4.
Jorge Velásquez, general manager at DP World Posorja, said: “Innovation and technology are essential components to providing excellent and efficient service in the operation of all our terminals globally.
“As the port of new opportunities, DP World Posorja will always remain at the forefront and we remain focused on delivering seamless operations to help improve the competitiveness of Ecuadorian exporters.”
Construction at the facility began last year and the Dubai-based operator expects the final investment to total US$1.2bn.
Following phase one of construction the port will offer an annual capacity of 750,000 teu with a 400 m quay, four quay cranes, and 15 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. A 100 ha logistics and industrial park will be built alongside the facility.
