Evergreen Line has added capacity and calls in Central and Southern China to its Asia-East Africa (AEF) service in response to market demands.
Two extra vessels are being added to the service, one apiece from Evergreen Line and COSCO. This means it will operates seven vessels in total, four operated by Evergreen, two by COSCO and one by X-Press Feeders.
In addition, the service will provide a direct connection between three Chinese ports – Shanghai, Ningbo and Shekou – and Kenya.
In a statement, Evergreen Line said: “The economic development of the East African region in recent years has been one of consistent growth.
“As a major trading partner, Chinese investment plays an important role in this growth and, in particular has lead infrastructure construction, a significant driver of increased import cargoes to the area.”
The service’s vessels have an average capacity of 4,200 teu and will be utilised with a rotation of seven weeks. The jointly operated service will commence with a sailing from Shanghai on July 5th, 2018.
The service’s rotation is: Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Singapore – Tanjung Pelepas – Port Klang (Westports) – Colombo – Mombasa – Colombo – Port Klang (Westports) – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Shanghai.
