Port of Kingston has increased capacity.

The Kingston Container terminals new business secured in October last year has boosted the need for new equipment.

Kingston operates through two terminals – the Port Bustamante North Terminal and the Gordon Cay South Terminal. the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) has ordered 24 4-high 7th generation Kalmar CSC 450 straddle carriers and six 7-high Kalmar empty container handlers for its facility at Kingston Container Terminal.

This should boost its container throughput by some 500,000 TEUs per year, and Kalmar is assisting in the logistics of stacking density.
