The Virginia Port Authority’s (VPA) leadership and officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Norfolk office travelled to Washington, D.C., to present the case for the eastward expansion of Craney Island. The plan is to develop the Craney Island into the fourth state-owned deep-water marine terminal is underway however it is time-consuming moving forward.
The approval came as the result of a unanimous vote by the Corps’ Civil Works Review Board to release the project’s environmental impact statement (EIS).
