The new models offer a choice of four container engagement systems for handling single and double containers – suspended hooks, hooks and side clamps, and single or double vertical twistlock. An optional ‘powered pile slope’ (PPS) feature is available, which extends the hydraulically operated sideways articulation of the spreader. The models feature a wheelbase of 4.5 m, longer than the standard 4 m, for added stability when stacking containers seven high (18.8 m).
The units are powered by the Cummins QSB6 6.7-litre diesel engine, a turbo-charged, charge-cooled engine that conforms with EC Tier 3 emission standards. It also features an engine protection system with shutdown function, and has separate performance levels for single and double container handling, for optimal productivity and fuel economy.
All the models in the series feature Hyster’s Vista cab, built for visibility, driver comfort and ergonomics. An air-suspension seat and air-conditioning come as standard, and a newly designed joystick offers intuitive control of lift, tilt and spreader functions. The operator compartment is located in a high position at the rear of the truck, to maximise visibility during stacking operations.
