Once deployed, the system will automatically identify trucks, chassis and container numbers as they enter and leave the terminal. APS will also provide its new damage inspection system on each portal to enable high-resolution digital imaging of all equipment as it moves in and out. APS will provide complete data integration to the Navis Express system.
With P&O expecting a surge in container volume within the year, the new automation systems will enable Centerm to increase capacity and efficiency at the terminal, without the need for additional space or personnel.
Russ Scheppmann, president of San Diego-based APS, said: “With the addition of the Centerm contract, APS has moved beyond the US to the international transportation market. We are excited to be working with P&O Ports in Vancouver.”
