Berth No 13, the latest addition to DPCM’s capacity, is a 364 m berth with an alongside draught of 16 m. It is equipped with 65-tonne quayside cranes and is capable of handling container vessels of up to 10,000 teu.
Currently 14 shipping services call at the terminal. Cosco Germany is one of ten container vessels deployed by Cosco on its Europe service, and has a shipping capacity of 8,204 teu. DPCM claims to be well equipped to handle vessels of this size, which make higher demands of terminal facilities and operational efficiency.
By the end of October, another deepwater berth adjacent to Berth No 13 will be commissioned, bringing DPCM’s annual handling capacity to 1.7m teu. When fully completed in 2009, the terminal will have six berths with a total quay length of 2,097 m.
