The company will shift its operations from Honmoku A8 berth, where it began operations in 1969, to Honmoku A5-A6. This berth, which should be operational in late November or early December, will have almost 50% more capacity than “K” Line’s current facilities. It will have a berth length of 400 m, compared with 270 m at the previous terminal, and an alongside depth of 12 m.
The new facility will have three 13-row gantry cranes (as opposed to two previously) and will cover a total area of 124,000 sq m. “K” Line’s handling capacity at the new terminal will increase from 151,000 teu a year to about 205,000 teu, and it will be able to accommodate some 276 reefer units.
