Port improvements for South Carolina
The SCSPA has also hired a company to provide design and construction support services for the development of a new 25-acre reefer yard at the Wando Welch Terminal. This will consolidate the two existing reefer yards and boost utilisation of the container yard.
Other improvements include new lighting on piers Mike and Zulu at Veterans Terminal, construction of a new rail switch at the Port of Georgetown and the installation of a new HVAC chiller at the main office. The Authority also approved the sale of the former US Navy Degaussing Station in downtown Charleston for US$5.25m.
