The presentations have been prompted by the Freight Transport Association’s call to shippers to demand changes to the bill of lading terms issued by carriers. The FTA is not advocating wholesale change, but believes that terms and conditions no longer reflect a fair balance between shipper and carrier interests.
The presentations will be held in London on September 22 and in Southampton on September 29. Jonathan Chambers of Quadrant Chambers, a leading London-based maritime practice, will discuss the implications and issues surrounding a review of bill of lading terms. The events will be relevant to ship operators, container lines and freight forwarders, among others.
“Our previous presentations have been a huge success with guest speakers and attendees alike. The presentations themselves are great for people to come to for information, and the opportunity for industry professionals to gather afterwards to chat in a relaxed atmosphere also proves popular,” said Linda Jacques, a partner at LA Marine.
