Throughput of 1m teu was achieved during the loading of CMA CGM’s Kalamata, calling at FICT on the CIMEX service. Volumes handled at the terminal in 2006 leaped by 25.44% from 2005, when it handled 803,895 teu.
Berths 1-3 of FICT, in Fujian province, China, have an annual designed handling capacity of 1.2m teu and are capable of handling ships of up to 100,000 dwt. Berth 1 and the newly commissioned Berth 2 have a combined length of 651 m and are equipped with five post-Panamax quay cranes and 12 RTGs, and have a navigation channel 360 m wide and 15.5 m deep.
Berth 3, with a draught of 16 m, is expected to be commissioned in May 2007, bringing FICT’s total quay length to 983 m.
