MPRI, a global leader in maritime simulator products, has revamped the hardware and software components of the more than 15-year-old simulator, which is located at the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAG) training facility in Linthicum Heights, Maryland.
The upgrade, involving newly installed hiCRANE2 software, will provide new technological capabilities that will help to train operators at the alliance’s ports. Features include a ZPMC crane model, a library of vessel types and an advanced logging system.
The system, which includes a load manifest, mimics port logistics operations and allows users to build a flowchart as they would in real-time operations. The Windows-based software also includes new environmental capabilities that create scenarios for all weather conditions.
