The Port of Houston has invested more than US$1.2bn in designing and constructing the Bayport facility. Construction began in 2004 on the initial 60-acre facility, which will be expanded to 110 acres over the course of the next year. When it opens, CMA CGM will divert its cargo from Barbours Cut to Bayport.
“We’ve been focusing on the western Gulf for several years and are pleased to become established in this important region. The Bayport facility will be a world-class facility, serving a growing and vital region,” said Doug Tilden, MTC president and CEO.
Meanwhile, parent company MTC Holdings has moved its headquarters back to San Francisco. The new address is: Three Embarcadero Center, Suite 550, San Francisco, CA 94111. Tel: +1 415 646 8100.
