The parties have not disclosed the transaction value, though Tagros reported net sales of around €2m in 2006. The company has 35 employees, most of them service technicians. As well as taking over Tagros’s existing duties, Kalmar will use the acquisition as an opportunity to build up its service and sales activities in Slovenia and the Northern Balkan Peninsula.
Koper is one of the most efficient multi-purpose ports in the Balkan region. Volumes at its container terminal surpassed 200,000 teu in 2006, and it has more than doubled its throughput in the past five years. It also handles large volumes of sawn timber, motor cars and bulk.
