Vuosaari will be one of the most modern ports in the Baltic Sea when it is completed in 2009. The operating activities of Helsinki’s two smaller, existing ports will be moved there at the end of 2008, by which time traffic channels should be ready, along with most of the adjacent business park.
Finnsteve specialises in the handling of unitised cargo (ie containers, trucks and trailers) at the ports of Helsinki, Kotka and Turku. Its activities include stevedoring for scheduled liner traffic, the operation of cargo and service terminals, container depots and repairs, and customs clearance.
The new cranes will have a lifting capacity of 82 tonnes in twin-lift operation and 100 tonnes in tandem-lift mode. They will have an outreach of 46 m and a backreach of 20 m, and will operate on a rail gauge of 30.48 m.
