Mr Jones, 52, has had a long and successful career in the ports industry. During his time at MDHC, he expanded the group’s ports, transport and logistics interests and increased its turnover, before it was taken over by Peel Ports in 2005. Mr Jones, who has degrees from the universities of Oxford and Salford, has also served as a non-executive director of the United Kingdom Major Ports Group and as a member of the Bank of England’s North-West Quarterly Panel.
Chris Clark, ABP Chairman, said: “ABP, following its successful takeover by Admiral Acquisitions, is at a pivotal stage in its history, with a wide range of exciting challenges ahead. Peter Jones is a recognisably strong figure in the ports industry and he will bring his enviable experience with him to ABP.”
