Container transfers were at a record level of 787,000 teu, up by 11%. Growth in the container segment was mainly supported by train services, whose traffic grew 19% to 430,000 teu. Volumes of iron and steel also hit a new record, up 9% to 5.3m tonnes.

In a separate development, Bosai Minerals Europe GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bosai Minerals Group Co, Ltd of Chongquing, China, has acquired a mineral processing facility in the Port of Duisburg.
