Flexsim launches terminal simulation tool

Simulation models built in Flexsim CT allow terminal operators and consultants to improve many facets of terminal operations. They can analyse yard stacking and segregation strategies, yard lay-out and despatching, gate logistics and capacity, quay crane allocation, ship scheduling and many other aspects of terminal logistics.

With a simple drag-and-drop model-building methodology and an integrated 3D environment, Flexsim CT makes model-building fast and intuitive. It provides real-time simulation statistics collection of many key performance measures, including berth productivity, quay crane utilisation, truck queuing times, container dwell times, yard equipment utilisation and gate throughput.

The result of each simulation can be analysed graphically through 3D animation and through statistical reports and graphs, allowing findings to be communicated to both technical and non-technical audiences. According to Flexsim, the tool can help operators to improve their container flows, reduce costs and predict and control a terminal’s operations with greater reliability.
