Big orders for Kalmar equipment
DP World’s Jebel Ali Port container facility has placed an order for 84 Kalmar PT122 terminal tractors, due for delivery this summer to its new Terminal 2 expansion phase. The new tractors will be engineered as evolutionary versions of units currently working at Jebel Ali Terminal 1. Kalmar has been supplying DP World with tractors since the early 1980s, and the operator currently has hundreds of units in use.
In Asia, Kalmar has recently delivered a DRF450-75S5XS reachstacker specially engineered for barge handling to Vietnam International Container Terminal (VICT). The reachstacker, which has been operating successfully at the Ho Chi Minh City facility, is the first of its kind operating in Vietnam, and reflects the growing utilisation in Asia of inland waterways for container transportation.
