The port’s expansion plan calls for the acquisition of gantry cranes and RTGS, together with expansion of its dock and grading yard areas. It also plans to establish a Free Trade Zone, build an integrated operations centre and purchase a gamma ray scanner for non-intrusive container inspections. The port company estimates that an investment of US$34m will be required for the improvements envisioned in phase one of the plan.
