It received over 500 vessel calls, the largest of which was the container vessel Xin Shanghai, operated by China Shipping, in February. This generated 3,251 movements, corresponding to 5,406 teu. In the early part of 2007, activity at Port 2000 was close to 50 calls and 56,000 teu monthly, an increase of 32% from monthly figures in the second half of 2006. At this rate, TDF should reach its annual objective of 660,000 teu this year.
Since the beginning of the year, 75% of containers handled by TDF were carried by road, 18% were transhipped, and 5% were carried by inland waterway and 2% by rail (excluding rail transfers from the Terminal de l’Europe).
Containerised traffic at Le Havre as a whole experienced good growth in the first three months of 2007. Its terminals handled 609,000 teu, 27% more than in the same period of 2006, marking the port’s best quarterly result since the third quarter of 2004, when it handled 574,000 teu.
