Malta Freeport Terminals reports an increase in operational efficiency since the installation of a software module developed by Shireburn Software. Kalmar books new EDRIVE orders

Kalmar has received a further straddle carrier order from MSC Gate Bremerhaven. The order, for ten ESC440W EDRIVE straddle carriers with twin-lift spreaders, follows a previous order earlier this year. Delivery of the ten new straddle carriers will be completed in March 2008. Maersk fires CEO Soederberg

AP Moller-Maersk has dismissed its chief executive Jess Soederberg after poor results last year, when the company’s profits decreased by 23%. Soederberg (62), chief executive since 1993, has been replaced by Nils Smedergaard Andersen (48), currently chief executive of the Danish brewery Carlsberg. Andersen has headed Carlberg since 2001, during which time the brewer’s profits have more than doubled. Read More »

Russian repeat orders for Konecranes

New spreader design from Kalmar

Kalmar has unveiled a new spreader design, Max Stable, which features an eight-rope reeving system without auxiliary ropes for faster, no-sway micro-movements, thus making cycle times quicker and more efficient. According to Kalmar, the Max Stable anti-sway system means better load stability control in rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) operations, due to the fact that the spreader’s cargo is hoisted by all eight ropes. Balboa receives first mega-vessel

Panama Ports Company SA (PPC) received its first ever post-Panamax maiden vessel call with the arrival of the Maersk Seletar at the Port of Balboa on June 15, 2007.
