GateVision will benefit POMTOC’s operations by streamlining gate processing and improving overall safety and security. The system effectively integrates three key gate transaction components – voice communication, video information and the terminal operating system – into a single, intuitive user interface.
Additional features include driver face identification cameras built into the lane kiosks for heightened security, and four reversible lanes. This gives POMTOC added flexibility in its gate operations, providing as many as 12 inbound lanes during peak traffic periods, and as many as eight outbound lanes when needed. POMTOC has been using a number of other Tideworks products since 2003, including its Mainsail Terminal Management System, Spinnaker Planning Management System and Forecast.
“The installation of GateVision gives us the opportunity to make truly significant improvements in gate processing efficiency and speed by enabling staff to easily collect container numbers, licence plates and other vital pieces of information that are key to maintaining the highest levels of security,” said John Ballestero, general manager at POMTOC.
