The twistlocks are operated by remote control, resulting in improved safety and faster unloading, according to the company. They also incorporate safety features that make possible vertical tandem lifts of multiple containers.
In the sea trial, the RATs were used to secure containers on the deck of a DFDS Lys-Line ship sailing from Skagerack to the Port of Lysekil. On arrival, they were used to unload two containers in tandem and then unlocked at the quay, by means of a portable control unit. “The locks worked perfectly and up to expectations,” said Dag Tryggö, MD of Loxsystems.
