Carrier Transicold’s threesome

The products include the new PrimeLINE™ container refrigeration unit, QUEST energy-saving mode and eAutoFresh™ on-demand ventilation.

“The common thread in all of them is green,” said Chiou Fun Sin, Carrier’s vice president, Container Products Group. “In an age of growing concern about human impact on the environment, businesses everywhere are looking for products and processes that consume the fewest natural resources while also minimizing the ‘carbon footprint’ of their operations.”

Carrier designed the PrimeLINE unit specifically to reduce environmental impact and lifecycle cost through exceptional efficiency. The PrimeLINE unit features a digital scroll compressor that is compatible with the product’s environmentally sound R-134a refrigerant. “It’s the most energy efficient container refrigeration unit on the planet,” said Chiou. “Fleets using the unit can reap large financial savings in reduced energy requirements, while also significantly reducing emissions related to power generation.”

QUEST power-saving mode is a software-based control option for Carrier Transicold refrigeration units that intelligently cycles refrigeration on and off based on temperature limits designed for specific perishables. It can cut energy requirements for refrigeration by up to 50% while also reducing power-related emissions.

eAutoFresh on-demand ventilation is designed for certain perishable commodities and provides an energy-efficient alternative to the practice of continuous ventilation. With eAutoFresh ventilation, the container’s fresh-air vent is kept closed only to be opened when a carbon dioxide sensor inside determines that it’s necessary due to product respiration. Ventilating only on demand means the refrigeration system works less, thereby saving energy.
