“MSC Gate desperately needs the new cranes,” says Harry Mohns, managing director of MSC Gate. “Like all other shipping companies, Mediterranean Shipping Company, is serving Bremerhaven with ever-larger vessels and the new container cranes are capable of spanning the newest generation of 22 container rows wide vessels.”
To cope with the additional capacity, MSC Gate is currently awaiting delivery of ten additional van carriers and is increasing the total number to 40 units.
MSC Gate (a joint venture with EUROGATE), handles MSC vessels exclusively and is located on the southern extension (CT I) of Bremerhaven Container Terminal. From January 1, 2008 the terminal will comprise 900 m of quayside, three berths (and one short-sea berth) and nine container cranes.
