“The Magnum was an industry first – its digital scroll compressor and R-404A refrigerant offered the industry’s greatest cooling capacity along with reduced power consumption for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, which was just becoming a hot topic at the time. [Now] it’s time to get even better,” said Dermott Crombie, vice president, Thermo King Global Marine Solutions.
A range of hardware improvements mean the Magnum ΕTA offers up to 20% lower energy consumption in typical operating conditions over the original Magnum container, as well as lower power consumption in frozen cargo loads. In addition, its carrying temperatures extend across a greater range, from -40°C to 30°C. “Customers will get all of this, plus the tightest floor spread, with or without ventilation open,” said Crombie.
In the meantime, Thermo King has appointed a new area sales manager for southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Monika Hipp joined the company two years ago as manager for vehicle manufacturer relationships Northern Europe, after holding a number of positions at European industrial firms. In her new job, she will help to promote Thermo King’s SLX trailer refrigeration range.
