Orders were as strong in all regions. In Europe, the biggest orders came from the UK with eight cranes, Turkey with seven and Belgium with six. The African market showed dynamic growth with orders for 19 cranes. In Libya, two orders for 11 cranes marked an important step for Gottwald in its efforts to penetrate new markets. The company also sold its first cranes in Angola and Benin (two units each). Three cranes went to Egypt and one to South Africa. Brazil produced orders for five cranes. In all, Gottwald MHCs are now in use in 86 countries around the world.
Of the 96 cranes sold, 63 (65.6 %) were Generation 5 models. Model 6 – the successor to the HMK 300/330 – turned out to be the company’s new bestseller, with 49 units accounting for 77.8% of the Generation 5 cranes sold and 51% of all orders received. The total number of Generation 5 Cranes commissioned or on order since their launch now stands at 93.
The Generation 5 range was extended in 2007 with the launch of the Model 4. This entry-level model for the 100-tonne market has several variants, including a four-rope-grab variant for bulk handling. Early customers for the Model 4 came from Gemeentelijk Havenbedrijf in the Port of Antwerp, Terminales Maritimas de Galicia in the Port of Ferrol in Spain and Navayuga Engineering Company (NEC) from India.
