New orders grew by 21.7% to €1,872m, the third consecutive year in which growth exceeded 20%. The Asia-Pacific region showed the strongest growth and emerging markets in the EMEA region, particularly in Russia and the Middle East, also performed well. Order intake in the Americas grew by nearly 20%; organic growth in this market was close to 5%, despite the weaker US dollar.
In the fourth quarter alone, new orders amounted to €471m with growth – almost exclusively organic – particularly strong in both the Standard Lifting and Heavy Lifting segments of the business. The performance of the Asia-Pacific region received a strong boost with a single order from India for 173 cranes.
Net sales for the year rose 18% to €1,749.7m, with Standard Lifting achieving the fastest growth, on the back of improving demand and higher market shares. Sales also rose in the Heavy Lifting and Service segments.
