The first to go into operation was a Kuenz RMG crane, which started work in April 2006 at the DIT terminal in the logport logistics centre. The crane is designed as a double-girder gantry unit and is used to handle the terminal’s rapidly growing rail container traffic.
In March 2007 Kuenz delivered a crane with a similar specification to the PKV terminal operated by DUSS. This unit is equipped with a Kuenz spreader made specifically for interchangeable truck bodies and was designed to meet the standards of national rail operator Deutsche Bahn.
The third crane, a Kuenz River Harbour RMG unit, was put into operation in July 2007 at the Rhein-Ruhr-Terminal in the Duisburg Parallelhafen. This trimodal container crane is designed as a single-girder crane with a rectangular girder structure, which provides exceptional torsional rigidity, according to Kuenz. The main hoist is constructed to allow for high working speeds and efficient container handling, even when water levels in the Rhine are low.
