The two gantry cranes have a 60-tonne lifting capacity with a 58 m outreach and are capable of handling 22 rows of containers across. The RTGs have a lift capacity of 40 tonnes under the spreader. The new cranes arrived at the end of March, boosting PSCT’s fleet of gantry cranes to nine and the number of RTGs to 10.
PSCT comprises a 950 m container quay with a draught of 13.2 m, and has a yard area of about 470,000 sq m. The terminal achieved a handling volume 1,041,388 teu in 2007. Under a new development plan, it is looking to improve its handling efficiency and productivity by expanding its main container quay by 400 m with a depth of 16 m alongside. The expanded facility will be supported by four further gantry cranes and other equipment.
