First Liebherr STS crane for Russia

The new crane, scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2009, will be the first STS container crane that Liebherr has supplied to Russia. It will have an outreach of 46 m, allowing it to handle vessels up to 16 rows across, and a lift height of 35 m. Its rail span will be 15.2 m, and the safe working load will be 50 tonnes under the spreader.

This will be the third STS crane at NUTEP. When it is installed, it will increase the terminal’s annual throughput capacity to 215,000 teu. NUTEP is undergoing a development and expansion programme with total investment of US$140m that involves the gradual replacement of equipment as well as reconstruction of the yard and berth extension. This will allow it to increase its capacity to 500,000 teu per annum by 2014.
