Mutual cooperation

The two container handling companies aim to cooperate more closely in future in the fields of technology, the environment, security and marketing and to foster a mutual exchange of experience. The challenges faced by terminal operators in today’s market are comparable both in Germany and China, the partners agreed.

EUROGATE Container Terminal and Shekou Container Terminals, are similarly positioned in their respective markets. They are geostrategically well-placed to service the growth markets in their respective regions, which are for the most part linked via feeder networks. In the case of Bremerhaven these are the neighbouring Baltic States, for Shenzhen it is the region around the Pearl River Delta.

Feeder transhipment is of central importance for both terminals. Security is also an issue that concerns both companies. The screening of containers favoured by the US Administration affects both German and Chinese terminals equally.
