The new environmentally advanced ‘GreenLine’ all-electric spreaders – previous versions of which already account for around 60% of the yard crane spreader sector – are lighter, quieter and faster in operation, reducing spreader power consumption by as much as 85%.
The company claims its new all-electric ship-to-shore twin-lift STS45E unit consumes less than 1 kWh compared to the 5 kWh consumed by the standard STS45. The spreader’s low weight can result in a reduction in ship-to-shore crane power consumption cost by some US$4,000 per year and a saving of US$1,100 or more annually in spreader energy consumption savings.
Although the hydraulics have been removed the spreader operation is similar and dependant on the operator can increase productivity. In addition, the lack of hydraulics has eliminated many of the service points, which in turn means significant service-related lifetime cost savings and lower service costs related to oil, hoses and filters.
