The G HMK 6407 has a lifting capacity of up to 100 tonnes and a working radius of up to 51 m. It is ideally suited to handling of goods of all kinds alongside vessels up to post-Panamax class, according to Gottwald. “Our business in Latin America has been developing very satisfactorily and this has strengthened our market position in this region,” commented Andreas Moeller, deputy sales director at Gottwald.
Terminal operator Contecar, in Cartagena, Colombia, where two Gottwald mobile harbour cranes are already in use, put its first G HMK 6407 MHC into operation in June 2008, bringing its total of Gottwald mobile harbour cranes to three. In all, there are now five Gottwald cranes working at the Port of Cartagena. The new G HMK 6407, a Generation 5 model, will mainly handle bulk materials.
The terminal operator Palermo Sociedad Portuaria SA is a new Colombian customer for Gottwald. It took delivery of a Model 6 crane at the beginning of September 2008 at the new river port of Palermo, and will use it as a universal machine for handling general cargo and containers. Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Barranquilla S.A. (SPRB) bought two G HMK 6407 cranes last year, which means the company has now sold a total of nine cranes in Colombia.
