Vuosaari gearing up for start of operations

On November 24, the first ships will arrive at Vuosaari, and the Gatehouse will be put into use on the same day. The inauguration of Vuosaari Harbour will take place on November 28.

In the meantime, Helsinki has repoorted an enormous increase in the number of cruise ship passengers arriving on international cruise ships. During the past season, Helsinki registered visits from 270 cruise ships, carrying over 360,000 passengers. The corresponding figures for 2007 were 238 visits and 260,000 passengers. The figures also indicate a considerable increase in the size of the visiting ships.
