Port Evo will be responsible for all aspects of delivery of the Vyborg project – which is due for completion in 2010 – including liaising with local management operations, project engineers and construction and equipment companies. The port’s re-development encompasses the replacement of port handling equipment and of road and internal rail systems, the upgrading and expansion of berths and increased container storage and warehousing.
Sutcliffe, who will head the Port Evo team, has worked in the shipping and port industry for more than 20 years and is chairman of UK Trade & Investment’s Ports Advisory Group. His experience of managing major ports projects includes Teesport in the UK and the development of the 500,000 teu container terminal at Gdansk in the southern Baltic.
