Rotterdam Port Authority signs agreement with Port of Suape

The agreement is a result of President Lula’s visit to the Netherlands in April.

The initiative is in line with Port Authority policy on the further internationalisation of operations. The Port Authority is already involved in the development of the port of Sohar (Oman), and last month announced that it would be taking a serious look at Borneo (Malaysia).

Suape is an attractive proposition for the Port of Rotterdam Authority due to its massive potential. More than 3000 hectares are available for port expansion, surrounded by thousands of hectares for distribution activities, the construction of a refinery and the chemical industry.
