Liebherr extends its reach into new territories

Liebherr Container Cranes has announced a number of new equipment sales to customers in diverse territories, ranging from the Black Sea to the Caribbean. Ports America announces raft of new appointments

Douglas Tilden has been named to the advisory board of Ports America Group, having previously served as the group’s chairman. Tilden has had a distinguished career in the shipping industry, beginning in 1969 with United States Lines. A past president of MTC Holdings, Inc., he is actively involved in the maritime industry and public affairs and serves on the boards of several associations, including the Pacific Maritime Association. Antwerp seeks partners for hinterland development

The Antwerp Port Authority is aiming to position itself more strongly in the hinterland by teaming up with various port users. Savi to team up with Litium Mobile in Scandinavia

Savi, the provider of wireless-based supply chain solutions, and Litium Mobile Applications, a consulting firm for mobility and visibility solutions, have announced a teaming agreement throughout Scandanavia. The partnership will leverage the companies’ technical and marketing strengths to deliver radio frequency identification (RFID) and other wireless-based solutions to government, defence and commercial organisations. Westports growth continues despite global slowdown

Westports Malaysia continues to grow, notching up a 20% increase for the first nine months of this year. The port says it expects to exceed 5.2m teu for the whole of 2008. Local volumes grew by 24% during the first three quarters and are expected to total 1.5m teu for the year. Transhipment volumes increased by 18% and are predicted to reach a total of 3.7m teu.
