The aim of the Promotional Platform for Short Sea Shipping and Intermodality (PROPS) is to encourage more freight to be transported along Europe’s seas and rivers alongside road, rail and air as part of a wider, more integrated transport network.
The project will be conducted by a consortium of 16 international partners, including policy experts, shipping industry members, a communications consultancy, and EU member states’ Short Sea Promotion Centres (SPCs). It is led by Amrie, the Alliance of Maritime Regional Interests in Europe.
PROPS will first analyse how effectively short sea shipping is being promoted to the freight transport industry and its stakeholders, via business networks. It will then draw up a pan-European marketing and communications plan, supported by a series of workshops across Europe, to encourage greater short sea shipping.
