From Livorno in Italy, two orders have been received from Terminal Darsena Toscana (Contshipitalia Group) for the Kalmar E-One+RTG. The first order for two RTGs was placed during the second quarter and a subsequent order for four RTGs was placed during the third quarter 2008. The first two RTGs will be delivered by the end of 2008 and the other four RTGs during summer 2009. All the RTGs will be fitted with Kalmar’s Smartrail® autosteering and container position verification systems.

Kalmar on a high with orders from Livorno, Piraeus and Brisbane

From the Port of Piraeus in Greece, Kalmar has received a contract to supply ten straddle carriers to Piraeus Port Authority for its new Pier I terminal. Five EDRIVE® ESC350 and five CSC350 machines will be delivered during the first half of 2009. The order will increase the total number of Kalmar straddle carriers at the port to 58. Piraeus also operates a fleet of 25 Kalmar terminal tractors and ten Kalmar empty container handlers.

From Australia’s Port of Brisbane, Kalmar has received a repeat order to supply automatic straddle carriers to Patrick’s Fisherman Islands terminal. The four new ESC350WA straddle carriers will be introduced into service in Brisbane before September 2009, taking the total number of Kalmar fully automated straddle carriers at the terminal to 27.
