MOL has already implemented short-term strategies to counter the recent decrease in seaborne trade volumes, including the cancellation of expensive charters, scrapping older vessels, the lay-up of excess vessels and redelivery of excess chartered vessels.
Looking to the mid and long-term in order to prepare for the return of demand in seaborne trade, MOL’s basic strategy remains unchanged, which is to fulfill its fleet plan, with enhanced and expanded competitive tonnage.
Echoing US President Elect Barack Obama’s campaign slogan “Change – Yes We Can”, the MOL President, has encouraged his staff to grasp the change of circumstances with a “can do” attitude.
