The introduction of these new vessels represents a significant step for the line in securing its position within the Indian Subcontinent Europe Service (ISES). These SCI-owned vessels replace previously chartered tonnage in the European sector.
Chris Lewis, CEO of Hutchison Ports (UK), owners of Port of Felixstowe, said: “These impressive new 4,400 teu additions to SCI’s vessel fleet will provide a significant boost to the line’s capacity on the Indian Sub-Continent – North Europe trade. We have a long-standing relationship with SCI and we thank them for their continued support.”
The two sister ships each have a length overall of 264 metres, are 43,679 gross tonnes, and have a maximum draught of 12.5 metres. The ISES service offers weekly sailings calling at Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Port Said, Colombo, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Mundra and Barcelona.
