The 158-acre (64 ha) Trans Pacific Container Service Corporation (TraPac) terminal will be used by TraPac and its parent company MOL to operate Jacksonville’s first direct Asian container service. TraPac is located within the Dames Point Marine Terminal, Jacksonville’s newest marine facility comprising more than 585 acres (237 ha) of land an 12 miles (19.4 km) from the open sea.
TraPac comprises 2,400 ft (730 m) of berth equipped with six post-Panamax container cranes and six transfer cranes and is expected to handle 800,000 teu annually, more than double Jacksonville’s current container throughput.
With the opening of the terminal, MOL – which also operates container terminals in the Ports of Los Angeles and Oakland has become Jacksonville’s largest tenant by acres leased, annual revenue generated and cargo container volumes.
