NCC’s 2008 throughput up 11.6%

The throughput of First Container Terminal (FCT) in the Port of St. Petersburg increased by 11.8% year on year to 1,072,346 teu, although in December 2008 volumes fell to 86,944 teu, a decrease of 2.7% compared to same month in 2007. Reefer container throughput at FCT was up by 19.3 % year on year to 121, 439 teu while December reefers fell by 29.5 % to 7,603 teu.

The throughput of NUTEP (Novorossiysk) totalled 124,501 teu, down by 12 % with 12,128 teu being handled in December, a decrease of 21.1%. According to the company this was due to increasing competition between various container terminals.

Ukrtranscontainer (UTC) in Illychivsk, Ukraine throughput increased by a staggering 18.4% year on year to 539,928 teu, although throughput fell sharply by 47.9% in December to 27,680 teu.
