To enable loads with a total weight of 27 tonnes to be reached on rail wagons positioned on the second track, whilst maintaining the required safe working distance of 6.8m from the trains, the truck had its standard 5900mm wheelbase extended by 80cm to 6700mm.
A hydraulic forward stabiliser and larger counterweight were added to allow loads up to 46 tonnes to be handled from wagons on the first track. The truck features Hyster’s sliding Vista Cab, providing the driver with a clear view of both the ground and the container at all times, an important factor when loading and unloading trailers.
In common with a second Hyster reachstacker used at the terminal, the truck is fitted with a combination intermodal handling spreader, allowing it to handle both standard containers using twistlocks, as well as intermodal trailers using bottom-pick legs. The truck also features the fastest lifting/lowering times thanks to the powerful 224kW Cummins engine and is fitted with a load sensing device to stop overloading.
